
Leslie Garcia Ashby's practice is concentrated in the area of civil litigation, including commercial and contract disputes, defense of product liability, personal injury lawsuits, landlord-tenant and real estate litigation, and commercial collection matters. She also has extensive experience in defending environmental and toxic tort claims and representing individuals and companies in libel, slander and other matters involving First Amendment issues. Ms. Ashby also regularly serves as
a guardian ad litem by appointment from several state district courts in Harris County, Texas
Before joining AshbyCrinion LLP, Ms. Ashby was a partner with Jackson Walker LLP in the firm's Houston office where she was focused on civil litigation.
Ms. Ashby has successfully represented clients in lawsuits throughout the state of Texas, in both state and federal court, at the trial level and on appeal. Among her successes is a defense verdict in the Texas cattlemen's business disparagement lawsuit against Oprah Winfrey concerning mad cow disease. She also included in her successes a defense summary judgment and directed verdict in a lawsuit involving soil contamination claims at a former retail service station site and a Texas Court of Appeals' decision affirming that summary judgement.
She is an active participant in various bar and community organizations, including the State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association and the Hispanic Bar Association, of which she was President from 1997 - 1998. Ms. Ashby has also been a speaker at Houston Bar Association events, a panelist for events at both Rice University and the University of Houston Clear Lake, and a guest lecture at the University of St. Thomas in Houston.
Born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1966, Ms. Ashby holds a Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor Degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. Ms. Ashby is
licensed by the Texas Supreme Court, The United States Court of Appeals for the fifth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the southern District of Texas.
